I am happy to live in one of the eleven (11) states to have already passed the National Popular Vote Initiative which promises that all state electors will vote for whichever Presidential ticket winning the popular vote. It will take effect when enough states have passed it to reach 270 electors and make sure the Electoral College supports democracy rather than thwarts it.
We may not be able to get the vested (and invested) US Senate, US House of Representatives, and US President/Vice Presidents to enact campaign finance reform, but this we can do. And we should. It was bad enough when Bush took office with Gore winning the popular vote by 543,895 votes. This time, Clinton had 2.8 million more votes than Clinton. This is NOT a mandate for Trump. This is big business, political insiders and clueless media gaming our democracy.
“It has been enacted into law in 11 states with 165 electoral votes (CA, DC, HI, IL, MA, MD, NJ, NY, RI, VT, WA). It will take effect when enacted by states with 105 more electoral votes. Most recently, the bill was passed by a bipartisan 40–16 vote in the Republican-controlled Arizona House, 28–18 in Republican-controlled Oklahoma Senate, 57–4 in Republican-controlled New York Senate, and 37–21 in Democratic-controlled Oregon House. It has passed one house in 12 additional states with 96 electoral votes (AR, AZ, CO, CT, DE, ME, MI, NC, NM, NV, OK, OR).” – http://www.nationalpopularvote.com/
