Rum Tasting and Phase 10

Today we went Kilohana Plantation for lunch, shopping, and rum tasting.  Naturally, I came back with a bottle of coconut rum.  They were happy to inform us that customs allows us each to pack 5 bottles in our checked baggage and each bottle weights 3 pounds.  They are not allowed to ship rum out of the state, so they suggested packing the rum and shipping our clothes instead.

We ended today and yesterday with a round of cards, Phase 10.  I won both nights, but my sister nearly beat me tonight.  Between the rum tasting and the cards, we took a walk to watch the sea turtles surfing just off the rocks at the edge of our resort and rent a couple of movies from the activity center.  We watched Independence Day Resurgence and it was fun to see the old characters come back.

Yesterday, we took the actual helicopter tour.  None of us got sick and we bought the video of our actual ride along with three plaques from Sunshine Helicopters with the photo they took of the three of us and the helicopter (with pilot).  We all used acupressure wristbands to avoid air sickness and they seemed to work, but the ride was actually pretty smooth.  We saw all the most famous Jurassic Park locations.

Aside from some irritability with one another when we get tired, we’re doing well.  My sister is the official photographer for the trip.  She got up early this morning for a dawn hike and pictures.  My mom is taking some pictures and I gave her a second memory card for her camera, but I’ve only taken a few shots with my smart phone.  We are going to the beach (to actually get wet) and then to an evening art walk tomorrow.  Aloha and good night.
